West Virginia –The WVU Men’s Basketball team has a letter of intent from one of the best in-state prospects–and he’s just five years old. Thanks to the Make-A-Wish foundation, Nicholas Wince will be able to become a Mountaineer for life.
WVU is heavily recruiting Nicholas because of his high effort, high energy, and love of the University. The soon-to-be six-year-old boy (March 2) was diagnosed with a hypoplastic left heart early in life, which is a potentially life-threatening condition. After spending a day with the Mountaineers as they prepare for a showdown with the Texas Longhorns, his mother Kristen said it’s a day he’ll never forget.
I’m such a sucker for this stuff. I love when teams do this for kids. People always say “it’s just a game, it doesn’t mean anything”. Well it certainly means a lot to Nicholas Wince and absolutely made (and I imagine continues to make) a positive difference in his life. Good on Huggy Bear and WVU hoops making this happen. Now if you’d excuse me I need to clean the dust out of my living room.
